The shelving system using stacker cranes should be numbered according to the columns, layers, and rows of the shelves, in order to automatically enter and exit the warehouse to designated locations, and also to facilitate warehouse management using electronic computers. In fact, most of the updated large-scale automated warehouses use electronic computers for warehouse management. But in order to save equipment investment, most small automated warehouses still use manual control and semi-automatic control.

 

Manual control is when the driver checks the cargo location number on the stacker crane driver's desk, operates the joystick or button, and completes walking, lifting, and forklift entry and exit. On the driver's desk of the stacker crane, the driver presses the button for the desired slot number, and the crane automatically completes various actions such as walking, lifting, and stopping at the designated slot number. The movement of the fork in and out is controlled by a manual lever or button. Most return actions involve pressing the return button to automatically return to the original position.

The automatic control of the stacker crane is a form of unmanned operation, with a control panel installed outside the crane and buttons or punch cards as instructions. Therefore, as long as the start button is pressed, the remote-controlled stacker crane can automatically enter and exit the warehouse. Recently, storage devices such as magnetic core memory have been used to store inventory quantities or varieties for each project number and to manage inventory. Computer control, set up a ground control panel, directly connected to the electronic computer, input the inbound and outbound instructions into the electronic computer for centralized control. The incoming and outgoing commands issued by the electronic computer are stored in the front box calculator on the ground control panel. Implement variety, frequency, and other calculations in library management. This management method is often used in large automated warehouses. In the already built small shelf warehouses, there are also some small electronic computers for warehouse management.
